Unconsciously we strive to build the environment with no unknowns everywhere we go. Web zone of comfort, the way I see it, are websites we tend to go on regular basis seeking for knowledge, entertainment, inspiration, connection, or whatsoever. Last three months, I started to clearly see the set of most frequently visited websites when applied to my web surfing experience. Let me share with you with some of them to expand your zone of comfort and to hopefully relax that of mine.

В данный момент нахожусь в одном из кабинетов средней школы № 50 города Астаны. Через минуты в 10:00 по времени Астаны начнётся первый в истории Казахстана и первый по своему масштабу в мире онлайн-урок, в котором Президент Республики Казахстана Н.А.Назарбаев станет учителем для 1000 школ по всей Республике. Тема урока совпадает с темой послания Президента РК народу Казахстана в 2007 году – «Новый Казахстан в новом мире».
10 из 1000 школ страны из Кокшетау, посёлка Шамалган (Алматинская область), посёлка Балыкши (Атырауская область), посёлка Сарыкемер (Жамбылская область), Караганды, посёлка Затобольск (Костанайская область), Кызыл Орды, Шымкента, Алматы и Астаны оборудованы системой видеоконференц-связи и смогут напрямую задать вопрос Президенту.
Остальные 990 школ будут участвовать в происходящем через систему для совместных онлайн-уроков и конференций Elluminate, а также получат видео-картинку через Windows Media Server. Все, находящиеся вне Казахстана, могут посмотреть онлайн-трансляцию по ссылке: mms://live.sabak.kz:8080
Все остальные школы, а также все население страны смогут посмотреть прямую трансляцию интерактивного урока по телеканалу «Казахстан». Весь остальной мир – по кабельному телеканалу «CaspioNET».

Все. Я сумел все-таки (хоть и частично) восстановить удаленный с хостинга в прошлом году сайт bastau.com. Для этого использовалась база сервиса Internet Archive и command-line утилита Warrick. На само восстановление ушло 2 дня, во многом потому что Warrick ограничивает количество запросов в сутки до 1000. Это сделано, чтобы не перегружать Google и Internet Archive.
Итак, для того, чтобы восстановить потерянный сайт, необходимо сделать следующие шаги (при этом предполагается, что ваш сайт имеется в Internet Archive / Google / MSN / Yahoo):
1) Скачать Warrick.
2) Поскольку Warrick написан на Перле, вам необходим Perl 5, установленный на вашей Windows-машине.
3) Запустите командную строку: Пуск -> Все программы -> Стандартные -> Командная строка. Можно также просто нажать Win + R.
4) В командной строке наберите cd your_path, где your_path – абсолютный адрес директории, где находится Warrick. В моем случае your_path был C:\downloads\warrick-1.7.3.
5) Введите warrick.pl -r -wr ia -c http://mysite.com/ для восстановления сайта, находящегося по адресу http://mysite.com/. Ждите несколько дней  . Ваш сайт будет находиться в директории с Warrick в папке под названием «mysite.com».

Сегодня вспомнил про свой старый сайт "Bastau.com: большая энциклопедия интернет-бизнеса", который задумывался в качестве пошагового руководства к действию для достижения успеха. На его создание я потратил около года. Начал в ноябре 2004 года, собирал, структурировал материал. Опубликовал первую работающую версию только в конце сентября 2005-го. Затем в ноябре-декабре того же года работал над распределением всех страниц по директориям. Учитывая, что сайт представлял собой чистый html, folder-структуризация вылилась в долгие часы обновления линков на всех страницах. Ясное дело, такой сайт был бесперспективен в плане обновления. Bastau.com был размещен у сомнительного американского хостинг-провайдера под назвнием xtraff, который закрылся в конце 2006 года. В добавок, в августе 2006 года на скорости разбился жесткий диск компьютера, в котором хранились все версии сайта. Что ж, результат работы не подлежит восстановлению. The Wayback Machine впрочем всячески поддерживает, в их архивах мой сайт частично сохранен (для справки желающим заглянуть: кодировка сайта - cyrillic windows-1251).

Сегодня попытался сделать фигуру высшего пилотажа. Из себя. Открыв новую статью в Wikipedia, в которой в виде двух блоков опубликовал свои некоторые мысли из записей в дневнике за последние два месяца и ссылки на созданные мной сайты.
Получилось следующее:
Через час в нижней части статьи появился красный блок с надписью: "Эта страница предлагается к удалению из Википедии в соответствии с правилами удаления". Вот цитата из обсуждения администраторов Википедии по поводу удаления:

Еще вердикт не оглашен, но мне все и так ясно: пока я официально в издательстве книгу не опубликую, никакого статуса как писателя и соотвественно статьи обо мне в Википедии не видать.
P/s: Сегодня настраивая блог, обратил внимание на фразу в переписке админов Википедии: "большая часть статьи образцы «афоризмов», а ВП — не сервис для (само?)публикаций". Когда указывал цитату из обсуждения, просто действовал по принципу copy + paste, поэтому не вглядывался в его (обсуждения) содержание. Особенно понравились слова: «афоризмы», (само?)публикации. "Хорошая", прямо скажем, оценка! Но вновь обратившись к моим афоризмам (этакий "само?плагиат"), найдем: "Ты не принимаешь близко к сердцу то, что к тебе не относится".

I had two textbooks that I bought last September for my microeconomics and computer ethics class and don’t need them now. I tried to sell books in the bookstores where I actually purchased them but found the buyback prices to be too low in comparison to the money I paid for these textbooks.
So yesterday I decided to try Amazon Marketplace. First I found the book in Amazon's catalog (by using “Search by ISBN” option). Then I wrote the short descriptions of the conditions of my used textbooks and set the price. For the computer ethics textbook I set the price to be $32.00, it was the lowest price among all the sellers, in addition the condition was proudly declared as “Like New”. This way I provided my book with good nomadic chances to change its owner and the residence. What about my second textbook? First I analyzed the prices of other used Mankiw’s “Principles of Microeconomics” and considered the books with the same condition (Used - Like New), The book with the lowest price that satisfied the criteria was on sale for $85.00. Then I started to analyze the prices of the items on the first page. Here are the two properties (price and condition) of the first five used offers: $31.00, Acceptable; $78.75, Good; 79.88, Good; 79.88, Good; 80.00 Very Good. The condition of my book was “Like New” therefore I had an advantage over sellers of the items above, so I decided to set the price of 79.99. Now firstly, my book is on the first page of offers and secondly, it’s the cheapest like-new book.
To save the historical sequence of events, after that I registered for Amazon Payments.
The same day I received an email with the subject “Sold, ship now. Readings in CyberEthics, Second Edition [Paperback] by Spinello, Richard”. I bought this book in College Book Store for $43.50 and now I am selling it for 32 bucks. After Amazon commission and additional shipping credit my earning will be only 28.50. Then I went to the closest office of USPS (United States Postal Service), it was heavily raining, so I felt the total taste of the art of earning. I prepared my package (http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/custome...Id=1161254), then gave it to the clerk, paid $4.84 for Media Mail ($2.55), Delivery Confirmation ($0.60), Cushion Mailer ($1.59). So I will receive only $28.50 – $4.84 = $23.66 in total. Not too much, but at Specialty Book Store I would receive even less - $14 only. Secondly, consider learning experience. I successfully used this book for my Computer Ethics and learnt how to sell books in Amazon, it is not that hard, but anyway let’s see the positive part of the whole. So where will you find real-life educational experience in e-commerce for only $43.50 - $23.66 = $19.84?
Today I sold “Principles of Microeconomics [Paperback] by Mankiw, N. Gregory”, Amazon will send $69.29 to my Payments account. Again I paid $4.84 for shipping things and so my total earning is $69.29 - $4.84 = $64.45. I bought this book for 111.50, so one can say that I lost $47.05, but the glass of water is partially full. The main thing is not the money, of course. The key thing for me in this Amazon fuss was an opportunity to learn something, to gain experience. That is what important. You can probably argue that few things that I have learnt are not of big importance, and every 7-year old boy can sell on Amazon. But these things are new for me and I don’t feel embarrassed to show what I didn’t and still don’t know. Only by accepting your ignorance can you move on in this process of continual growth…
